blesma

 

BLESMA (British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association) is the national charity for limbless serving and ex service men and women and their dependants and widows.

Not only do they provide rehabilitation for those who have recently suffered amputation or the loss of the use of a limb, they also provide permanent residential care and convalescence at  BLESMA homes in the UK.

BLESMA also make grants to ease the effects of disability and hardship and provide advice and representation for those needing help to address government departments and officers. In addition, BLESMA represent their members at tribunals and provide invaluable counselling services.

ACTIVITIES

BLESMA run a varied range of activities to help amputees re-build their confidence and lives, including the Breckenridge Ski Spectacular and the Rolex Fastnet Race.

BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF BRAIN INJURY CASE MANAGERS

BABICM is a professional association which was established in 1996 to promote the development of case management in the field of acquired brain injury.

BABICM represents the professional interests and concerns of case managers who work with those who have suffered an acquired brain injury or other complex condition which requires co-ordinated rehabilitation, care and support. BABICM seeks to develop an ethical and professional structure in which the discipline can flourish, to encourage high standards in training and to promote networking and communication amongst its members for the continued growth, experience and reputation of case management.

HEADWAY JERSEY

Starting as a small support group for a few families Headway Jersey has grown dramatically over recent years to become an organisation with over 100 local survivors of brain injury on its books. But we know there are more local people that we are not yet helping. They require a wide variety of support and the demands on the charity are growing significantly year on year. Brain injuries come about for a wide variety of reasons including accidents, strokes, tumours, illnesses and even mosquito bites.

The Wheelyboat Trust is a registered charity dedicated to providing disabled people with the oppotunity to enjoy waters large and small over the UK.

 Their role is to help and encourage venues open to the public to acquire wheely boats for their disabled visitors and to help groups and organisations acquire whellyboats for their own use.
